Bridge disease has been a difficult problem in highway construction,maintenance and users. Due to the unique climate conditions of Qinghai province,bridge disease and the disease in other parts are essentially different, with obvious characteristics of Qinghai cold region.It is very important and significant to carry out the investigation and remediation measures of bridge diseases in cold area.This paper carries out the following discussions,through investigating Current situation and disease of part of the road bridge including Qinghai domestic state road G227, G214, G315, G109, S204, Pinga highway, etc.(1)The causal relationship between the bridge diseases and Qinghai meteorological temperature, geological geomorphology, hydrology and other factors is preliminary analysised.The disease which may occur in a variety of external conditions is induced.2 categories of frequent diseases with 12 terms in Qinghai region have been summarized.(2)The bearing capacity and deformation of permafrost under different temperature thawing and deformation is analysised using the Midas FEA.(3) Through a investigation in certain section of viaduct on G315 in Xining City, adopting the evaluating method of bearing capacity and carrying capacities of bridges with diseases. The measured data and calculated data are in good agreement.(4)More than 80% of Qinghai’s bridge diseases presents in forms of cracks. The crack s are divided into 3 categories according to different reasons for their formation.(5)The general temperature in Qinghai area where bridges are damaged is low.And construction is inconvenience. Combining with the existing engineering practice in this paper.Through the calculation and analysis, the feasibility and rationality of using FRP to repair the cracks are discussed.The research results can be used to establish the database of the middle and small bridges, culvert diseases in the Qinghai cold region. and to analysis the disease characteristics in the later stage.Draw the disease prevention map based on GIS to provide reference and reference.
