Landslide hazards has been the focus of our research direction which are difficult to predict, the influence factors are complex, and has large destruction. In the recent years, with the global warming and the impact of many major projects in the process of China’s modernization, the proportion of the total natural geological disasters is high. The occurrence of rainfall induced landslide has been widely accepted, and the cut and drainage method in the slope is very important to control the landslide disaster. The existing cut drainage method is based on the water gravitation, so, its drainage efficiency can not be guaranteed. Although the efficiency of drainage corridoris are very high, the construction period is very long, and the cost is very expensive. In view of some problems existing in the current cutting and drainage measures, this paper studies a new drainage method by compressed air. the method of intercepting water with compressed air for landslide is mainly based on the unsaturated seepage theory, through filling the trailing edge of slope with compressed air to expel some groundwater, forming unsaturated curtain belt, and intercepting the groundwater seepage from the trailing edge of slope, and then lowering the groundwater level in potential landslide to save valuable time for the treatment of landslide disaster. The technology is still in the research stage, and many basic problems need to be studied. Deep understanding of sealing gas and permeability of rock and soil is one of the basic research contents in the process of implementing this technology. In this paper, the physical model test of silty clay permeability and conductance rate has been carried on to enrich the basic research contents. Also based on the theory of two-phase flow using Geo-Studio software package to establish a numerical model to study and analysis the pneumatic position, permeability, porosity, the inflation pressure and the effect of aeration time on cutting and drainage effect.
