The rapid development of urbanization and the scarcity of land sources have made the high-rise and super high-rise buildings become the main trend. Multiple adjacent buildings become more common. Interference effect of wind load, especially with two buildings, has become more and more important. Other than the edge-to-edge arrangement, unusual arrangement style such as corner diagonal arrangement appeared. The current study is not comprehensive enough about configuration form as well as cross-section shape. Therefore, it is necessary to continue the study on interference effect of twin buildings. In this paper, two 280 meters high,45 meters wide rounded edge square section twin towers are experimented in a wind tunnel. There are 5 designed conditions altogether including one single building and 4 twin buildings situation(edge-to-edge arrangement, corner diagonal arrangement and 2 dislocation arrangements). The time-histories data of wind pressure is obtained for all the 496 measure points. This paper pays attention to the interference effect with different placement of various angle for the twin towers. The whole research mainly includes three parts:a)the mean wind load of twin towers and single building are studied, including local shape coefficient, global shape coefficient and base reaction, b) the fluctuating wind load of twin towers and single building are studied, including the power spectrum of pressure and coherence function, c) the dynamic responses of twin towers and single building are studied, including gust response coefficient, equivalent static wind loads and the peaks of displacement and acceleration on top roof. The results show that the interference effect has significant influence on the twin towers of parallel configuration, which results in the variation of average wind loads, fluctuating wind loads and structural dynamic response. And the different placement angles of the twin towers cause the different impact of the interference effects. Dislocation arrangements have more severe impact on local shape coefficient and the base reaction than the edge-to-edge arrangement and the corner diagonal arrangement. The local pressure on the crosswind face as well as crosswind and torsion base forces are much larger than single building situation. Edge-to-edge arrangement and the corner diagonal arrangement have more obvious impact on coherence function for fluctuating wind load, for the damping exponent reduces significantly. As for structural dynamic response, corner diagonal arrangement is the most unfavorable conditions among all the designed conditions.
