With China entering an aging society, we focus much on the old age problem, as a result, various forms of pension buildings are under construction. It’s found in surveys that the public spaces in those pension buildings are used quite frequently without enough attention paid to their acoustic situations, however. The reverberation and noise in the halls make the acoustic signals fuzzy and reduce the language articulation, which directly trouble the communications between the elderly, and thus affect mood, psychology and other aspects. The current objective indicators of indoor language definition indoors are fixed according to those experimental results of young people. Because the listening situation of older people is generally worse than that of young people, higher standards should be applied to ensure the language articulations of older people. To investigate the influence of different sound environment to the indoor language articulation of old people, subjective evaluation experiments of Chinese language are processed in this paper to study the relationship between objective index STI and the subjective listening score SI, respectively under reverberation, noise and reverberation noise conditions. The main conclusions:1.According to the comparisons between the elderly and the young, the average difference value of SI is 29%. Simulation curve fitting degree respectively:The correlation coefficient of the elderly regression curve is 0.62, the standard deviation is 7.8%; The regression curve correlation coefficient of young people is 0.67, the standard deviation of 5.3%.2. According to the comparisons among older people of age groups (60,70,80 years old), the average differences of SI they scored are:28%,29% and 33% respectively. In the same conditions, there are large difference between the language articulation score of the elderly and the young man, it’s very necessary to pay attention to the acoustic index when a hall is designed for the aged.
