The smart grid adds more content on the basis of obtaining the state information of traditional power grid.Including obtaining the state information of network equipments, the ability to obtain all types of real-time information has been further expanded. The digital substation plays an important role in smart grid, while it can hardly do the monitoring behavior without real-time, reliable and efficient communication system. Substation communication system follows IEC 61850 international standard, aiming at achieving the interoperability and pluggability for the whole communication system. The latter proposes using publish-subscribe architecture in substation communications, but it doesn’t provide a concrete scheme of the implementation.Data Distribution Service(DDS), which is the latest communication standard for the distributed real-time communication system proposed by Object Management Group(OMG),and based on real-time,data-centric and publish-and-subscribe framework. Moreover it provides a wealth of quality service strategy to ensure the efficient and reliable distribution for the real-time critical data in communication network. In this paper using the DDS specification as its implementation standards in substation automation system, and proposing the theoretical method to map GOOSE communication to the DDS specification. Furthermore, the GOOSE communication is simulated on a specified communication platform DDS. Ultimately, the experimental results verify feasibility and correctness of the proposed method, we also provide the method of monitoring the communication process in the DDS-based GOOSE communication.
