Wind power technology has got rapid development during nearly 10 years. High-performance airfoil was developed to improve the efficiency of wind power on airfoil aerodynamic performance at the same time.The optimization design of airfoils and the surface flow control can effectively improve the airfoil lift and reduce drag by add attachments such as vortex generators and Gurney flap.In order to study influence of airfoil surface adding attachments to the the aerodynamic performance, first of all, wind tunnel experiment of studying airfoil leading edge roughness effect had been Completed. We produced three rough belts with different height of silicon carbide. Then paste one of them on the airfoil leading edge to test airfoil aerodynamic performance. Airfoil with front protection coating was compared with them.The experimental results show that leading edge roughness had a great influence on surface flow separation, low roughness is beneficial to reduce the resistance increase maximum lift coefficient, beyond a certain level will make separation in advance, reduce the lift coefficient increases resistance coefficient. Equipped with front protective coating can effectively reduce the effects of roughness.Secondly, the vortex generators which were pasted on the surface of airfoil in a row were studied to assess effects on airfoil aerodynamic performance through wind tunnel experiment. Experiment scheme using stepwise optimization method. Some main factors have been studied such as the vortex generator’s shape, height, installed distance and Angle, the combination of double row, and the installation location. The result is that triangle vortex generators have a better effect than others. Installed height, distance and Angle have an optimal range. Installation of 20% chord edge effect is better. For DU93-W-210 airfoil, double row does not highlight the superiority of vortex generator effect. The combination of double row effection combined with single row characteristics, but increases the resistance.Finally, the airfoil with Gurney flap has been studied through the wind tunnel experiment to achieve aerodynamic performance. The different height of flat Gurney flap and different angles of sawtooth Gurney flap were focused. It was compared that the influence of different experimental scheme of the airfoil surface pressure.The results are that Gurney flap has improved the lift at the same time increased increased the airfoil drag, installation location near the trailing edge effect is better,30 degrees sawtooth can effectively reduce the resistance increase lift-to-drag ratio.
