With rapid development of society, wind energy has become the most widely used and the fastest developed renewable energy power generation. The power output of wind farm is of randomness, waviness and intermittence, which would affect frequency control of whole system. As a result, in order to ensure frequency is within permitted range, the study of frequency control with wind power has urgency and practical significance. On this background, this paper studies improving method of load frequency control(LFC) system with wind power integrated. In this paper, we propose two ways of thinking about how to integrate the wind power into the interconnected power system. The first way is taking wind power into consideration as a load of power system;the second way is letting wind turbines paticipate into frequency regulation as well as thermal units and hydro units. This paper studies four-area hydro-thermal interconnected power system with wind turbine integration. The distributed model predictive algorithm is applied into system. If the output of wind power generation system fluctuates, we can control other units to realize the stabilization of the whole system. In practical power system, the existence of the generation rate constraints (GRC) present great challenge to the control schemes, the paper translates GRC into distributed constraint optimization problem. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model predictive control algorithm.
