With the development of modern society, automobile safety performance,energy conservation and environmental protection are more and more attention in recent years. On the premise of ensuring car stiffness and safety, minimizing the quality of the car parts has become a hot research topic in the automobile industry. Because the passenger compartment is a relatively weak zone in the vehicle side impact., passengers may easily suffer from severe injuries. So the research of safety performance and lightweight in the vehicle side impact has strong practical significance and engineering application.Based on a large number of literature research about automotive lightweight and crashworthiness, this paper elaborates several design methods of automotive lightweight,which is commonly used in the automotive industry. And it also introduces the current research status of vehicle crashworthiness. By means of establishing the side touch simplified model of the Toyota camry car, and using Hyperworks, Ls-dyna, OptiStruct software and the orthogonal experiment method, the paper has carried on simulation analysis of the vehicle frontal impact, side impact and white body stiffness, finally the two designed schemes acquire good effect of weight loss on the condition of meeting structure safety performance.The results are as follows:â‘  By comparing frontal crash simulation results of the CAE mode with the real vehicle frontal crash test, to verify the reliability of the finite element model;â‘¡ On the basis of the side impact finite element model,to establish two side touch the simplified models with different boundary constraints. One is the base1 for half constraints, the other one is base2 for all constraints. By analyzing the sensitivity of the two kinds of simplified model, to make sure that the base1 is more effectiveness and accuracy.â‘¢ Improvement scheme one: The simplified model is analyzed by orthogonal design and weight optimization method, to get a reasonable material allocation scheme, Combined with the vehicle side collision simulation results and engineering experience, allocation scheme is improved to attain a new optimization scheme.The new scheme carries on the vehicle side collision and white body stiffness simulation, in order to verify the scheme one under the condition of meet the structure safety performance achieves weight loss of 17.3% through simulation results compared with the original model.â‘£ Improvement scheme two: Using hot stamping and laser welding technology to improve B column reinforcing plate of the scheme one. Through the simulation analysis, to testify that it achieves weight loss of 25.6% under the condition of meeting the structure safety performance.
