Rutting and cracking will occur in asphalt pavement during its life, which are related to the material damage of asphalt pavement. In order to study the damage of asphalt pavement material, the damage models of asphalt mixture have been deduced and experimental verified in this paper. The research content of this study include viscoelastic damage and viscoplastic damage. In terms of viscoelastic damage, the theoretical basis and application of Schapery nonlinear viscoelastic damage model in the damage analysis of asphalt mixture was concluded. In terms of viscoplastic damage, a viscoplastic damage model based on multiunit Weibull distribution was developed and the equivalent viscoplastic damage variable was selected as damage evaluation indicator. Substituting the damage variable into the strain hardening model and the damage information of viscoplastic materials would be reflected in the viscoplastic strain. In order to verify the feasibility of the the proposed model, uniaxial compression test of asphalt mixture under different temperatures and stress conditions. The results indicate that the viscoplastic damage model can describe the damage process of asphalt mixture satisfactorily. The damage evolution graphs correspond to various conditions have been plotted to intuitively acquire the damage evolution law of asphalt mixture and reveal the relationship between the damage and temperatures and stress conditions. This paper makes a preliminary exploration on asphalt pavement material damage monitoring. Viscoelastic damage variable, S and equivalent viscoplastic damage variable, D(N) were presented to be damage evaluation indicator of asphalt mixture. The construction principle of damage condition monitoring system of asphalt concrete was presented by considering its structural characteristic. The components of monitoring system were described in detail, including the sensor subsystem, the data acquisition and preprocessing subsystem, the damage state evaluation subsystem and the data management subsystem. Data preprocessing was studied preliminarily based on wavelet analysis by using the MATLABThe study on damage model of asphalt mixture in this study could be used to evaluate the damage states of asphalt pavement materials and would provide theory support for the construction of material damage condition monitoring system of asphalt pavement, which would provide solutions for delaying the emergence of the distress.
