With the precisely electrical devices constantly putting into use, the demand for high power quality becomes stronger.Quick transfer switch is one of the customer’s electricity technology, which is a lasting and effective solution to transient power quality problems and is currently the most effective way to solve voltage sag problems.In this paper, according to the research on theory of transfer switch, a kind of full control model IGBT-based transfer switch is put forward, the thesis introduces several common topological structure and discusses its advantages and disadvantages, and analysis its switch process detailed; Still, the paper has studied the current transfer characteristics, deduced the relation between switch time and impact factors, and illustrated the operation principles of switch.The paper analysis several commonly used voltage detection methods, mainly studies dqO and αβ-dq voltage detection algorithm based on the instantaneous reactive power theory, discusses its working principle and calculation formula, and introduses their advantages and disadvantages respectively. Three kinds of switch strategy are studied, which are the zero-crossing transfer, mechanical transfer and parallel transfer, their switching sequence, switching process and working principle are illustrated in detail; the simulation model of voltage drop is built using MATLAB,verifying the feasibility of the three methods.Single-phase switch prototype was designed successfully; its controller is composed of two high performance chips to ensure the reliability. Experiment was carried out; the test results show the switch’s good performance which is able to meet the strict requirements of sensitive loads for the power quality.
