Real-time and accurate traffic state identification is the prerequisite and foundation of traffic management, traffic guidance and traffic control. Identification of urban traffic state must rely on the development of traffic information collection and data processing technologies. Comprehensive traffic data collection based on RFID (radio frequency identification Technology) and video detection technology can obtain the location speed and link travel time. Based on the above datas, the method of distinguishing the urban road traffic conditions is studied, and the main research contents are as follows.Firstly, based on literature of traffic state identification, according to traffic data collection principles and characteristics based on RFID and video detection technology, a data processing method to obtain the average travel time and location speed have been proposed. The traffic state is divided into three states:smooth, jogging and congestion, a concrete method forward to obtain the actual traffic condition on the road is put, according to the real-time video of each base station, through watching video by many people.Secondly, the paper choses a specific network in the city road which includes 43 base stations, and then, set up 61 base station pairs, collect the RFID data of 6 months, calculate travel time, and analyse travel time in many aspects. The results show that, the travel time obtained by RFID can be a good reflection of the traffic operation, and can be used as a index of traffic state classification.Thirdly, the method to determine the threshold of traffic state identification of each base station is studied, with the average spot speed as the index, combined with the actual traffic status, taking into account the specific circumstances of different base stations. And the 100 base stations of Nanjing city are taken as example to evaluate the effect of discrimination.Lastly, the traffic state identification method is proposed which based on the fuzzy evaluation, with the average travel time obtained by RFID, the average spot speed of the starting point and end point obtained by video technology as indexes. And taking the base stations of Nanjing city for example, compare the traffic state classification results with the actual traffic status, to evaluate the effect of discriminant method.It is a important direction of development of intelligent transportation that comprehensive traffic data collection technology is used in the identification of traffic state. Based on the study, the direction of future research is prospected.
