Research On Application Of Harbor Culture In Waterfront Landscape Construction

China is one of the most abundant water-system countries in the world, most of the cities build near by riverside, and become developed because of the river. Chongqing as one representative riverside city, the water transport had dominated for long term,which leads to the prosperity of Chongqing Harbor. Because of the industrial development, the innovation of transportation which results in the downfall of harbor area as well as harbor culture. In the past, the harbor had provided convenience,created wealth and brought the development of the cities, witness the city’s growing and evolve,this is the history of the city. The harbor culture is the source of the Chongqing culture, and the harbor culture is a special landmark for riverside city.Waterfront is the best way to show and express the harbor culture. Therefore, it is necessary to discovery the applying of Chongqing traditional harbor culture in waterfront. To ensure the traditional harbor culture can be continuously showing and express to the public. Meanwhile make combination of entertainment, landmark, and culture in waterfront landscape.In this essay, the object of research is harbor culture, and the methodology for this essay is based on literature research, investigation, and analysis data. The final conclusion is according to summarizing the relevant theory and research of current situation and combining of investigation of traditional harbor and waterfront landscape in Chongqing. Then put forward the strategies and recommendations based on all research results.The main contents are as follows:1)The literature researches of traditional harbor culture and waterfront landscape.Expound the origin, development,Components, distributed,type and feature of harbor. Discuss the relationship between harbor and harbor culture.Summarizing and resolve the formation, the characteristics and the meaning of traditional Chongqing harbor culture.2)Investigation of currently apply of harbor culture in waterfront, according to survey Results sum up the apply of harbor culture in the waterfront by four main aspects:spatial level, landscape elements, cultural heritage and social activities.3)Discuss the relationship between harbor culture and waterfront landscape and the possibility of combining traditional Chongqing harbor culture and waterfront landscape. Summarize the elements from traditional harbor culture which are enable to utilize in riverside landscape architecture: elements of culture symbolic, historic construction and architecture elements, natural environment elements. Propose the main elements are spatial level, landscape elements, cultural heritage and social activities.4)With the prerequisite of the principles and requirements of riverside landscape architecture. By synthesis and analysis the investigation results, the strategies should be used for riverside landscape architecture are: utilize culture symbolic,re-construction of historic view, upgrade the theme, create artistic conception of landscape.
