Across-wind vortex-induced vibration is one of the factors to be serious considered in the design of circular cross-section high-rise structures, the vibration can be much larger than along-wind and the mechanism is also very complex, at present there are still some issues unresolved, especially the pneumatic coupling mechanism is still unclear when across-wind vortex-induced occurs. Therefore there are not yet made cross-wind dynamic calculation method that generally applicable to engineering practice, it still needs a lot of careful research on across-wind vortex-induced vibration of high-rise structures. On the basis of simultaneous pressure measurement and vibration measurement in wind tunnel, vortex-induced vibration of chimney is detailed analyzed, The main contents include the following aspects:(1) Based on the data of wind tunnel test, we analysis the range, St and amplitude distribution in VIV locked area.A detailed analysis of lift coefficient and drag coefficient flow wind in VIV locked area.Pressure distribution in VIV locked area is also analyzed.(2) Based on the results of wind tunnel test, we take a detailed analysis of erodynamic coupling phenomenon when the amplitude of the structure rises gradually, give the fitting formula of aerodynamic coefficients and amplitude during aerodynamic coupling process and analysis the pressure distribution at this time.(3) The influence of parameters such as aerodynamic force and locking range on the wind resistance design of the chimney was analyzed by means of numerical examples.
