Molten salt reactor, as one of the six candidates for the generation IV nuclear energy system, has ushered in a new round of development boom since new century. The existing reactor system analysis program can’t be applied to molten salt reactor simulation directly. Code coupling, realized by coupling existing programs of thermal and neutron physical programs, has been a research hotspot and highlighted to enhance the plant safety.This paper is based on the requirements of molten salt reactor system simulation. Aspen HYSYS, known as the world-famous petroleum processing simulation software, is selected to carry out reactor system thermal-hydraulic simulation coupled with neutron kinetic model to simulate the feedback effects in reactors. This paper includes the following sections:Firstly, the coupling of HYSYS and neutron kinetic program is completed in two steps successfully. The controllability of HYSYS parameters is verified in the first step to ensure that the HYSYS parameters can be controlled by programming, which lays the foundation for further coupling. In the second step, a point-reactor neutron kinetics code can be adapted to a dynamic link library, which is used in the coupling program. The date transfer between the HYSYS code and the dynamic link library can be realized by calling each other. For each time step, the data exchange between the two programs can modify related parameters to get more accurate results.Secondly, to validate the coupling program, the corresponding conditions of the thorium molten salt reactor system TMSR-SF1 are simulated by the HYSYS coupling program, and the results are compared with the RELAP5’s. By comparing the calculation results, it is found that the coupling program can achieve the desired results, and can obtain accurate results for the corresponding working conditions.Finally, some operating conditions are simulated by the coupling program, and the operating parameters of the system are obtained, which provide reference for the optimization, operation and control of the reactor system.This paper makes full use of the functional advantages of different programs to realize the coupling of programs, and simulation of the molten salt reactor system can provide reference and advice for the design, operation and safety analysis of the reactor.
