Sextuple-limbs section built-up cold-formed steel column is a mainly structural member consisting of six single C-sections connected by self-drilling screws. In this paper, the compression behavior of sextuple-limbs section built-up cold-formed steel column is researched by tests, numerical analysis and theoretical analysis.Firstly, sextuple-limbs section built-up cold-formed steel columns are tested under axial compression load. In this paper, the material properties, trial device and test method etc are introduced in details. At the same time, a detailed analysis of test result is made.Secondly, using the finite element analysis software ANSYS to simulate all the specimens with the real sizes. The comparison of finite element analysis results and test results verified the correctness of the finite element model. On this basis, parametric analysis is carried out for four factors including slenderness ratio, web width-thickness ratio, eccentricity distance and eccentricity orientation. Studies have shown that the first three factors have a big impact on axially compressed behavior of sextuple-limbs section built-up cold-formed steel column and the eccentricity orientation has little effect.Thirdly, axial bearing capacity and eccentric bearing capacity of the column are calculated according to the GB50018-2002 and AISI. The calculated results and the experimental results, the simulation results have some differences. Finally, on the basis of comparison and analysis, suggested methods of axial bearing capacity and eccentric bearing capacity apply to sextuple-limbs section built-up cold-formed steel column are proposed separately. It provides a reference for future scientific research and engineering application.
