After several decades of development of oil industry, oilfield exploitation is becoming more and more difficult. Furthermore, the water content in oil wells has gradually become higher. The number of different adopting oilfield has been increasing, such as small block, heavy oil and oil with high solidification. The measurement is relatively difficult for remote wells and single heavy well, although some techniques could be achieved, the cost made it difficult to promote. Therefore, the study of high-efficiency and low-cost measuring device has been of great practical significance in the oil production. In this paper a single-stream target flowmeter which can be used as measuring device for single wells has been introduced. And this measuring device has been designed and researched.Combined with the theoretical analysis of target flowmeter, the new flowmeter has been discussed theoretically and the mathematical model of the single-stream target flowmeter has been established. The structure of the flowmeter and internal flow field has been modeled with Solidworks modeling software and the internal flow model has been simulated with Fluent software in ANSYS Workbench. Combining the structure of the entity model and the results of numerical simulation, improvement for the structure of the new flowmeter has been completed. The forced side of the target has been changed from plane to hemisphere. This new structure can reduce the impact of flow field resulted from target.The design and drawings of gas-liquid rough separator of the measuring device has been completed in this article. Then, the main components of the rough separator has been analyzed by the finite element analysis software ANSYS to ensure they meet the design requirements. And then, the manufacture of the separator was finished to use for laboratory experiments.Test processing platform has been built to do experimental study of the measuring device in laboratory, which included single-stream target flowmeter and gas-liquid rough separator. The method of orthogonal experimental design was used for experimental research and data analysis. Through the analysis, the influence of fluid medium、gas rates and mass flow rate on the measuring device has been found. According to the experimental research, the theoretical model of flowmeter has been amended and the eventual structure of single-stream target flowmeter metering device has been finished. Based on the experiment analysis, another separator has been finished for field trials after improvement.
