The satellites with high elliptical orbit have two advantages:the large cover areas and the long cover time. Due to these two advantages, several countries had paid attention to this field. Therefore, it is significant for us to analyze the autonomous navigation of a group of HEO satellites. The main works of this paper are listed bellow:Establish the dynamical equation of HEO satellite, analyze the position error caused by each perturbation at different orbit altitude in detail, select a typical HEO satellite—Molniya for simulation and show the value and trend of each perturbation.Establish the autonomous navigation system, select the position and the velocity of HEO satellite as the state variables to establish the state model and the measurement model, analyze the observability of nonlinear system.Analyze the visibility problem, which includes two aspects:the visibility of a pair of HEO satellites, and the visibility between GPS satellite and HEO satellite, analyze the influence of sidelobe signal of GPS satellite. The accuracy of Unscented Kalman Filter algorithm is influenced by matrix R. To solve this problem, a new algorithm called ARUKF is adopted. By using a scale factor to moderate matrix R, the adaptive ability of the algorithm is increased and a better filter result can be obtained.Analyze the autonomous navigation of a group of HEO satellites by three algorithms, solve the autonomous navigation problem even with a large initial error.
