Since entering the new century, large span bridges have experienced rapid development. The design and construction of long span bridge is not only an effective platform for the application of high technology and new technology, but also the important responsibility of the development of human transportation. As a new type of long span bridge, the cable-stayed bridge has gradually entered our life. It added second choices for us kilometer level span bridge, At the same time among various bridges, there are many unique advantages which are optimistic to us about the cable-stayed bridge. So the implementation is of great significance of research on cable-stayed bridge.As the background of the project of Brunei large island bridge, This study summarized the development of the bridge history over the centuries, and the advantages and disadvantages of each type of bridge as well as its applicable conditions. Secondly, select and optimize the two bridge project of the Big Island Bridge project in Brunei Muara about the span, navigation performance, structural aesthetics, environmental impact, construction technology, construction speed,navigation effect. According to the optimized design scheme, establish a mechanical analysis model by using midas Civil finite element software, then make the process of stress analysis to the bridge, cable, tower in two states: normal use limit state and limit state of load carrying capacity. The main components of the cable-stayed bridge are briefly described. At last, based on the results of mechanical analysis, the paper presents the construction scheme of single cable plane cable-stayed bridge, and expounds the steps, contents and methods of construction.
