With the exploitation scale of hilly and mountainous is increasing in Ganbei. Landslide geological hazards occur increasingly frequent and seriously threaten the local economy development and life of people and property safety. Red sandstone and mudstone landslides are widely distributed in the area. The poor engineering properties of sandstone and mudstone result in the landslide disease is particular serious. So, it is necessary for further study on sliding mechanism and prevention and control technology optimization. On the basis of the researching the landslides geology environment background of Ganbei, carry out the classification of landslides in the study area through the statistics and discusse the reasons for the formation of the landslides. Then, choose the classical sandstone and mudstone landslide, study the strength characteristics of slip soil and find out the changes of the slide soil strength in different experimental condition. Through numerical simulation reveal the sliding mechanism of landslide sliding and study out the the effect on the stability of the landslide when the sliding soil strength values is changed. Finally, aiming at the landslide characteristics in Ganbei, put forward the prevention and cure principles and measures which is suitable for sandstone and mudstone landslides in Ganbei. By instance comparative analysis, taking pile-soil coupling+protective wall have good technical and economic benefit for medium-sized sandstone and mudstone landslide in the study area which has a certain reference value for medium-sized sandstone and mudstone landslide prevention and control in Ganbei.
