Shear wall structure system is widely used in high-rise buildings., however, the defects of construction,the change of seismic provisions and old buildings fortification standards too low caused some defects about earthquake performance of the shear wall and the structural reinforcement is indispensable.To overcome the existing problem in traditional seismic strengthening methods for RC shear wall, a new method of strengthening RC shear walls with steel wire mesh-polymer mortar was proposed. The technical characteristics is use the steel wire rope surround the wall.On the one hand, shear performance can outstanding improve by the steel wire mesh with polymer mortar. on the other hand, due to the steel wire winding, dark column formed the good effect of restraint which can improve the deformance ablity of shear walls under large displacement angles, preventing mortar layer stripping failure happens.In this paper,five shear walls strengthened with steel wire mesh and one contrastive shear wall were tested under cyclic loading, and particularly,the influences of strengthening quantity of steel wire ropes,axial load ration,strengthening technology were studied.(1) It is found that the steel wire mesh can improve the shear resistance of shear wall and effectively restraint the development of cracks. As a result, the failure mode of specimens was changed from the shear failure to the flexueral failure.(2) Compared with the contrastive shear wall,the shear walls strengthened bearing capacity is improve about 45.2%,52.9%,58.1%.(3) After strengthening,the initial stiffness of specimens has no obvious change,while the aseismic performance such as energy dissiption capacity can be improved remarkably.(4) During testing,these is no steel wire rope anchorage failure in the strengthened shear walls,and the strengthening technology has no obvious influence on the bearing capacity,but is a impact of ductiliy in large displacement angles.Based on the test results,the design formulate of shear load-carrying capacity are proposed and the calculating values were in good agreement with the test results.Using the finite element software ABAQUS, nonlinear numerical simulation of the whole process of reinforced shear wall, the results are in good agreement.
