With the rapidly increase of the economy, the scholars of various countries had researched on new energy technologies to deal with the increase of the energy demand. Hydraulic turbines were widly used to face the serious energy demand, especially in the small hydropower and the chemical industry. The existing problems of the hydraulic turbines using for energy recovery is: first of all, the pumps used as hydraulic turbines are designed in a method of centrifugal pump. What’s worse, the impeller of the pump is backward-curved blade impeller. When this impeller used as hydraulic turbine, the high efficiency of the hydraulic turbine is low and the flow range of the high efficiency working area is narrow. To deal with this problems, a forward-curved balde impeller was designed. The main work of this project is as follows:1. BladeGen software was used to redesign the existing hydraulic turbine’s backward-curved impeller. The forward-curved impeller using in the hydraulic turbine will be used in experiment and numerical simulation.2. ANSYS-CFX software was used to do the simulation of the hydraulic turbines with forward-curved blade impeller. The result of the simulation and experiment was compared to find a accurate way to modify the parameter settings, the number of grid, turbulence model and so on.3. Three different kinds specific speed of hydraulic turbines were simulated to study the effect on the internal flow, the performance curves and the hydraulic loss of the hydraulic turbines.4. Hydraulic turbines were simulated to study the effect on the internal flow, the performance curves and the hydraulic loss by changing the blade number, wrap angle, the diameter of the impeller and cutting the inpeller diameter.The creative achievements of this paper are:1. A forward-curves blade impeller was redesigned from the backward-curves blade impeller. A accurate way to do the numerical simulation of the hydraulic turbines was found.2. The internal flow, the performance curves and the hydraulic loss of three different kinds specific speed hydraulic turbines was studied. It laid the foundation for the further research.3. The effect of blade number, wrap number and impeller diameter was studied. The change of the internal flow, the performance curves and the hydraulic loss of the hydraulic turbines by changing blade number, wrap number and impeller diameter was researched. It will provide a theoretical basis for engineering practice.
