Radio Frequency Identificaiton (RFID) is one of the automatic identification technologies which utilize the coupling of the magnetic field to realize wireless communication and automatic identification. As the RFID technology has the advantages of high reliability, convenient operation, fast speed recognition and non-contact, it has been widely used in industrial automation, the circulation of commodities, logistics management and other fields. The reader plays a particularly crucial role in a RFID system, as it works as a bridge between the data processing management unit and electronic labels. Although the RFID technology has had a great development, the reader exist some problems to be solved, such as the collision of the tags. Tag collision will seriously affect the working efficiency of the reader. In order to solve this problem, a baseband module of the UHF RFID reader is designed which is suitable for the phased array antenna. This paper elaborates the principle of the baseband both the hardware and the software.Hardware of the baseband module is designed primarily. The chip of the microcontroller is STM32F103RCT6. The baseband module controls the work of the reader combined with the external circuit. The software part contains ISO 18000-6C protocol module, communication interface module and RF control module. The baseband module was welded and debugged in the end. Due to the progress of the readers, the test can be only divided in part. The simulation and test results of the software show that the protocol module can perform encoding and decoding. By testing the microcontroller control the RF module, RF module can be programmed to generate signal which phased array antenna needs. The Design of the baseband system meets the requirements basically.
