| Against the background of Internet plus era, data journalism begins to be widely used by domestic and foreign media. It creates a new way of news report for journalism because of objective, multiple, interactive and open characteristics of transmission. Data journalism helps people focus on transmission power thus its advantage becomes more obvious. As an overall news information platform, news center of Sina goes with the tide and sets a program called data journalism pictures explaining the world. Moreover, it develops reporting characteristics during the process of development. Researches into the transmission power have a good effect on the news media in using data journalism to enhance transmission power.Transmission power went through a long and lasting progress in the field of mass media and social organization. On one hand, there hasn’t been an agreement on the definition of transmission power although academics have been working on it. On the other hand, research methods adopted by current literatures focus on the statement and analysis on theoretical level. Empirical researches are severely lacking. As a result, rare data can support the conclusion and little attention is paid to researches into the transmission power of data journalism.This paper, based on data journalism theory, analyzes related questions bout the transmission power of data journalism pictures explaining the world. Firstly, various literatures are searched and sorted out. After teasing out the origin and concept of data journalism, characteristics are extracted and significance is also elaborated. Secondly, this paper offers a comprehensive overview of transmission power from the concept of transmission power, the extension of this concept and the researches into the media’s transmission power. Some existing problems are concluded. Next, the research theme and specific questions are further determined. Literature research method and case study method are used to state the column’s origin. The types are explained in depth and the characteristics are analyzed from the aspect of news column. Finally, the basic frameworks of pictures explaining the world are constructed from media strength, the amount of information transmitted, speed of propagation, coverage of information and effect of propagation. Then an empirical research bout the column is carried out through questionnaire method. Related data are summed up by statistical analysis software and later deeply analyzed so as to draw the conclusion of this paper. |
