China’s Medical Device Industry is booming and will be prosperous. Its after-sale service influences not only the health and safety of patients, but also the competition among medical device manufacturers. As the guarantee of normal running of medical devices, spare parts directly affect the service level, customer satisfaction, cost and profit, thus, they play a decisive role in after-sale service and must be appropriately managed.The research of spare parts management mainly focuses on six dimensions: classification, prediction, informatization, scrap, inventory control and management. This thesis researches spare parts classification because it is the basis of other five dimensions.In order to illustrate the application scenarios of spare parts, as well as the factors to be considered during model building and classification, this thesis summarizes the content and process of the medical device industry after-sale service, and the characteristics of service parts.Then, through the analysis of several spare parts classification methods, the after-sale service of A Medical Device Co., Ltd, the characteristics of service spare parts in the medical device industry, this thesis selects three key parameters (criticality, lead-time, demand frequency) of service spare parts to construct a CLF assessment model which meets principles of stability, representativeness, measurability, operability, continuous improvement.The major steps of classification in this thesis are as following. First, calculate the importance index of service spare parts according to the CLF assessment model. Second, take the classic ABC classification method as reference, sort the result of importance index from big to small. Third, divide the result into different sections according to the classification rule definition, and provide inventory management suggestion for spare parts of each classification.Finally, take some data as example, calculate the importance index by using CLF model and get the classification results. By analyzing, draw the conclusion that ABC classification results obtained from CLF model is more practical and instructive to the actual inventory management operation than traditional ABC classification.Although the built model and defined classification methodology in this thesis is based on the A Medical Device Co., Ltd, for other similar medical device companies or other enterprises of different industries which have high customer service level, this thesis will also have certain reference value.
