Objectively, an image of a travel destination is a collection of information regarding the place’s natural environment, local culture, hospitality and social condition, and is a series of symbols reflecting the destination’s nature. This series of symbolic information is influenced by many elements though. Thereinto, media that bridge the communicator and audience is the crucial element for commumcation result. Especially when different media convey different destination image, the audience’s choice of media and their perception for destination would be different. Hence, this article starts from the information nature of travel destination, and analyzes the elements that influence the communication results of destination image under communication theory system. It focuses on research the different communication effect of destination image brought by different media and communication methods. And it conducts an empirical study on the image perception on Xishuangbanna and its audience’s media choice, and further provides the media strategy that communicator of destination image should take to choose proper media to promote destination image according to its ascendant tourist resources.
