H asset management Co., LTD. was founded by the Chinese government during the Asian financial crisis. Its main duty in the beginning was to handle non-performing assets from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, which had helped the latter to be listed on the stock market. As this mission finished by the end of 2010, its problem of transition from a single-business company to a group corporation which can offer comprehensive financial services became an important issue. In October, 2012, China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) began to encourage the four largest asset management companies, including H Company, to expand their acquisition business from financial institutions to non-financial firms. Under the guide of the CBRC, H Company changed its strategy and reached a scale of 5 billion in its acquisition business by the end of 2015, involving coal chemical industry, nonferrous metal smelting, essential chemistry, cashmere industry, real estate industry and so on. These efforts have made a significant contribution to the development of the local economy. This thesis studies the development of acquisition business conducted by Yinchuan Branch of H asset management Co., LTD., applying the methods of comparative analysis, statistical analysis and case study. By analyzing two typical cases, it points out the problems in acquisition businesses, such as high cost, insufficient innovation, heavy industrial concentration, lack of corporation with other financial institutions and difficulties in confirming financial claims. It indicates that business innovation, advantages from group combinations, optimization of industries, corporations with other financial institutions and the introduction of external audit can solve those problems.
