Capillary Heat Loop, such as Capillary Pumped Loop and Loop Heat Pipe, is two-phase heat transport devices which utilize the capillary forces developed in evaporator wick to drive the working fluid. They have numerous potential application in many high tech fields, for example the heat-transfer control on aircraft and the cooling of electronic devices owing to its advantages including anti-gravity capability, excellent heat transfer capability, long distance heat transmission and flexible structure design. Plate Capillary Heat Loop is an improved design in comparison with traditional cylindrical evaporator design. A flat contact surface between Capillary Heat Loop and the heat sources can provide quite low contact resistance. In addition, according to field synergy principle, plate Capillary Heat Loop has better thermal performance as the included angle between its temperature gradient and velocity gradient of mass flow is smaller.This thesis introduces the development process and research status of Capillary Pumped Loop and Loop Heat Pipe from homeland and abroad. Then the system composition and operational principls of plate CPL/LHP are introduced in detail, and the thermodynamic analysis of two systems is ccarried out. Based on this, a plate CPL system was designed and manufactured. The evaporator is rectangular plate structure and the wick is sintered titanium porous plate, the working fluid of the system is distilled water. An experimental system for the plate CPL was established and a series of experiments were carried out. Start-up characteristics, variable operation characteristics of the system and the temperature control capability of the reservoir are investigated. Reliable start-up characteristics under high or low heat load and stable operation performance has been shown for the plate CPL system, moreover, in the whole experiment process, the reservior shows good temperature controlling ability.
