Along with the gradual advance of the high-speed railway planing, construction of the high-speed railway has been developed rapidly. At the same time it also has brought the high-speed railway maintenance and maintenance work great challenge. Now Railway Public Works Section is using track inspection vehicle in middle-long distance high-speed railway detection which has more advanced detection technology. The testing device has so higher detection efficiency, degree of automation and detection accuracy that can still meet the need of middle-long distance high-speed railway detection. However Railway Public Works Section is still using the traditional manual inspection method for short-distance track inspection. Because of the traditional manual inspection method which has the lower detection efficiency and measurement accuracy and other drawbacks can not comply with the standard requirements of modernized high-speed railway detection. In order to ensure that the railway workers finish the track detection quickly and accurately within a limited time skylights, so there is a requirement the high-precision automated test equipment for short-distance track detection.Under this requirement Xi’an Flight Automatic Control Research Institute which affiliates to the Chinese Aerospace Industry and our university developed a high-precision dynamic track inspection equipment together. In this paper the exact positioning system of CPIII in high-speed railway which is researched based on binocular stereo photogrammetry is raised from this project. The article that mainly focus on the overall design and positioning system measurement principle is narrated. First of all the article introduced the overall design of the positioning system in detail, and described the design of hardware systems, software systems, and communication systems separately; Then by establishing the model of the system sensor structure parameters, the article researched deeply effects of structural parameters on measurement error of the system and designed the structural parameters of the overall system according to the measurement error analysis and the design requirements of the system; Secondly the article researched deeply the principle of binocular stereo photogrammetry, and proposed the other measuring method used in this system on the basis of this principle. The camera’s imaging model is described better by means of that a linear camera imaging model is nonlinear, which thereby improved the accuracy of the measurement system; Finally, the article proposed a new type of camera calibration method based on the traditional method of camera calibration- Hidden parameter method, and by analysis of a large number of Calibration experiment data and the dynamic test data the feasibility of the system calibration method and positioning system were verified respectively.
