With the geographic information systems for data processing platform, the vegetation of main city area of Wuhan is studied, using the method of combining ground measurement with remote sensing technology. With the problems of the increasing global carbon dioxide emissions and Irrational structure of urban green space,in this paper, the application research of remote sensing images which are used to estimate the urban green biomass and green carbon sequestration capacity is carried on.LAI (Leaf Area Index) is an extremely important characteristic parameter of vegetation. As an important parameters of terrestrial ecosystem carbon cycle,FPAR(Fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation) measures the energy absorbing capacity of vegetation canopy.LAI and FPAR control many biological and physical processes of vegetation, such as photosynthesis, respiratory, transpiration, carbon cycle, precipitation intercepted.Meanwhile, they provide quantitative information on the structure of describing the energy exchange of the surface of the original vegetation canopy.LAI/FPAR is an important plant physiological parameter which is directly related to the growth of vegetation biomass.and can objectively reflect the level of vegetation carbon. At the regional scale, using remote sensing technique to extract LAI/FPAR is the most effective way.Through measuring the samples of the main city of Wuhan to obtain LAI values and FPAR values, establish correlation with vegetation index from SPOT5 image. Generate the green biomass of distribution, FPAR value of the distribution and LAI/FPAR values of distribution after inversion.Meanwhile,Analysing the rationality of the type of land and level and pattern of vegetation carbon of the main city of Wuhan.
