Radish (Raphanus sativus L.), cruciferous herbs, root vegetables, in theproduction and cultivation, especially when cultivated in spring, sowed at relativelylow temperatures, can easily go through the vernalization, resulted in bolting blossomand lost edible value.The effects of vernalization treatment, germination of the two kinds of radish atseed bud, blossom, physiological indicators were studied in this research using "NO.2Deri" and "Meiyingtao" as materials with pot experiment. The aim was to provide atheoretical and practical basis for radish cultivation and breeding. The main resultswere followed.1. Effects of vernalization treatment on the germination of radish seeds.Vernalization treatment could improve the radish seed vigor effectively, launched apromoting effect on the seed adorable. This effect varied with genotypes. The suitablevernalization days for "NO.2Deri" was10~20d, for "Meiyingtao" was10~15d.2. Effects of vernalization on radish bud, bolting and blossom. The study foundthat the longer vernalization time resulted in shorter time for bud, blossom and bolting"Meiyingtao" which was more resistant to blotting had lower bolting rate than the"NO.2Deri".3. Effect of vernalization treatment on physiological index of radish.Vernalization can promote soluble protein content, soluble sugar content, POD andCAT activity of radish to become higher. In the whole process of blossom, proteincontent, POD and CAT increased first and then decreased, soluble sugar content weredecreasing. While no significant effect on chlorophyll content. When vernalizationtime was longer, the MDA content was higher. The MDA content increased againwhen entered the decline period.4. Changes of endogenous hormones in the process of blossom. Compared with5d treatment,20d treatment reduced the IAA level to a certain extent before budding while GAs and ABA contents were improved. In the whole process of blossom, theIAA content was low in squaring period while it increased when flowering. Contentsof GAs ABA and ZR were all at high level in bolting and blossom period.
