Spatial and temporal variability of soil nutrients is related to soil quality, crop growthand agricultural development, which is an important part of soil research. Yulin as a typicalwestern region, fragile ecosystems, poor living environment, desertification, soil erosion andother phenomena is all serious, which is one of the hot area of academic research. In thispaper, we are to investigate changes of soil nutrients in the past30years in Yulin region, toreveal the law of temporal and spatial variability of soil potassium, and the effect ofdevelopment of agriculture and forest. This paper is basised on soil potassium level diagram of Shaanxi Province of1980s(1:500,000) and the nutrient value of K in2010provided by Shaanxi Provincial Departmentof Agriculture Fertilizer Station Land Survey.ArcGIS9.3and IDRISI17.0are the tools for dataprocessing and analysis of maps, According to the law of comparative analysis of spatial andtemporal variability of maps of different periods and to analyze the reasons for its variation.Time variation law of soil potassium performance quality has improved, improved nutrition, different levels of variability were each grade. Spatial Variability of Soil potassium nutrientrealized as two large areas north and south have been enhanced, but the area of SouthernDistrict level increases soil is larger than the North, and the Southern District of soil availablenutrients is always higher than the North. These variations characteristics, The variability ofYulin region-specific topography and soil characteristics, differences in the distribution ofresources plays a decisive role. And the change in farming methods, the western "returningfarmland to forests, grasslands" policy implementation, Eco-tied and sustainable developmentideas, etc are proposed by mine development, play a significant role in promoting theimprovement of soil nutrients.
