Salmonellosis is an infectious disease caused by Salmonella. It can lead to a variety of clinical symptoms and affect seriously the development of the poultry industry. Salmonella can infect people through a variety of ways, such as gastroenteritis. At present, antibiotics are used to control the disease. But multidrug resistant Salmonella appear constantly because of the abuse of antibiotics and the therapeutic effect of antibiotics is greatly influenced. In this study,12kinds of commonly used traditional Chinese medicine were selected and the effective components of herb were extracted with traditional decoction method. Through the measurement of bacteriostatic ring of various herbal extracts antibacterial effect were measured. At the same time resistant effects against clinical isolates of9kinds of antibiotics were detected. Salmonella were mixed with herbs and the resistance to Salmonella was observed after treatment The research results show that the traditional Chinese medicine have some antibacterial effect, such as Piniella, Platycodon root and Atractylodes lancea had some inhibitory effect on Salmonella, and almonds, dried tangerine peel, Poria, Rhizoma Belamcandae, Houttuynia cordata, licorice, trump, perilla, showed no effect on salmonella. Antibiotics bacteriostatic test results showed that Salmonella is highly sensitive to cefotaxime and gentamicin, norfloxacin Qu Songna, medium sensitive to levofloxacin, amoxicillin, the rifampicin, penicillin, cotrimoxazole and chloramphenicol showed strong resistance. Different concentration of the herbal and different time of the handle extract pretreatment increased sensitivity of Salmonella to antibiotics, reduce the resistance to antibiotics. This study provides a certain experimental basis for prevention of salmonella in chickens for the use of Chinese medicine.
