In twenty-first century, economy and society in China have a rapid development, while the traditional way of agricultural irrigation have wasted a huge amount of water. With the rapid increase of population, food demand and development of city and industrialization, the lack of water resources has caused serious effects on the sustainable development of Chinese agriculture and the whole national economy. Therefore, the development of low-power consumption on water-saving irrigation has become an important task of the shortage of water resources. Proper use of the low-power consumption system of water saving irrigation in agricultural irrigation, can not only reduce the waste of water resources, improve the utilization of water resources, but also increase the crop yield and reduce the cost of agricultural products.The following contents are mainly studied in this paper:①the research status and development trend of agricultural water-saving irrigation.②Analysis of work principle and composition of water saving irrigation system.③The overall optimization of drip irrigation system installation engineering.④The selection of key irrigation equipment of drip irrigation system.⑤The design of hardware and software of the control part.The theory, technology, method and measures of water saving irrigation have been analyzed in the paper. Some new understanding and technology of water-saving irrigation have been put forward. It should take different measures in the application, combined with the natural conditions, economic level, technical strength of different areas, etc.. And consideration should also be taken in long-term planning, to fulfill the modernization and automation of advanced irrigation technology. There are various types of water saving irrigation, tube irrigation, sprinkling irrigation, micro irrigation and drip irrigation and so on, and among all of them, drip irrigation is one of the lowest energy consumption method. The biggest advantages of drip irrigation are that high watering efficiency, improvement of efficiency of fertilizer through the system, it is easy to meet the water need and fertilizer requirements of plant, and control automatically.Through research and analysis of composition and working principle of water-saving irrigation system, the key factors to optimize water-saving irrigation system have been found. The design parameters, irrigation pipe network layout, hydraulic calculation, the first hub design, irrigation equipment selection of irrigation system have been optimized, and obtains a set of more practically irrigation system design theory. The design theory of water-saving irrigation system were practiced in Zhenyuan grapes drip irrigation project. Water, electricity resources in the project area were significantly reduced, especially the utilization ratio of water resources is greatly improved, avoiding a lot of irrigation water waste. At the same time, the grape plant grew well, yield and quality of grape have greatly improved through precise control on water and fertilizerWith the rapid development of computer and automation industry, based on the VB language as a programming language, a low consumption of water saving irrigation system control software has been developed. Through connecting with a water saving irrigation control device, they composed to be a complete set of low power consumption of water saving irrigation system. The system is low cost, small volume, convenient installation, reliable in operation. Compared with industrial computer and other control method, the software has advantages of high performance price ratio, easy to form product, convenient popularization and application. This is a new attempt to automatic control technology for irrigation in China, and a new way out to intelligent and market-oriented development on the current low agricultural productivity condition in China.The design of low power consumption and water saving irrigation system in this research have a promotion on the modern agricultural water-saving irrigation projects, and reference value on future development of similar system.
