| This study cultured cucumber (Jinyou35) with different concentrations of siliconnutrient solution. To inquiry the effects of silicon on the growth photosynthesis, chlorophyllfluorescence and fruit quality parameters of greenhouse cucumber, physiological indicatorsand quality parameters were masured and analysised In order to select a suitable siliconrational application level. The main results are as follows:1. With the increase of silicon concentration, the treated group plant height were13-32cmhigher than CK, stem diameter were0.05-0.12cm higher than the control. Growth rateincreased and had significant difference between groups. The treated plants floweringedabout a week in advance. Silicon fertilizer effection was more significant in seedlingplants than in flowering period.2. With the increase of silicon concentration, chlorophyll content of the treated groupincreased3.1-36.4%than in control. Net photosynthetic rate (Pn), water use efficiency(WUE) both increased, There was no significant change in transpiration rate or stomatallimitation and control.3. In the range of0.5-1.5mmol/L, maximum photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm),photosynthetic electron transport rate (ETR) and photochemical quenching (qP) allshowed an upward trend with the increasing silicon concentration. As the concentration>1.5mmol/L, Fv/Fm, ETR and q P began to decrease, but qN increased.4. Single fruit weight in the treated group improved by17.3%and production of perplant.increased11.8%. The total free amino-acids were14.3%higher than in the control, but nitrate content were23.1%lower than the control, soluble sugar, vitamin C contentalso increased to varying degrees.5. Plant treated with high concentration of silicon (≥2.0mmol/L) was inferior to the control, even had some rot and death, and multiple malformations. The conclusion is: Amount of silicon fertilizer application can promote cucumbergrowth, enhance photosynthesis, increase production and improve fruit quality.0.5-1.0mmol/L is most conducive to growth. The effection of silicon on cucumber isdifferent at different growth stages of cucumber. High concentration of silicon would inhibitthe growth of the cucumber plants. |
