Plant volatiles and colors play an important role in insect behavior. This paper studied the influence of plant volatiles and colored cards on the response of the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae Sulzer in order to control this pest. The volatiles of heptanal, α-phellandrene, Z-3-hexenol, methyl jasmonate and octan-1-ol and the 31 potential blends composed of these chemicals were used to test the attraction of M. persicae. Y-shaped olfactometer and electroantennography were used to test the reaction and behavioral responses of the aphid. The responses of aphid to different colored cards and to cards containing plant volatiles were also determined.Aphid showed larger EAG response to most of the blends in high concentration than that of low concentration and not more mixing of volatives the response valure is larger. The results suggested that more blends at the high volume concentrations of 1:10 and 1:100 repelled aphids and more blends at the concentrations of 1:1000 were attracting aphids, at the concentrations of 1:10000 less blends had the directional effect to aphids. Among the blends, blends 30 and 31 at a 1:1000 concentration, blend 13 at a 1:100 concentration, and blend 15 at 1:10 concentration had the strongest attraction to aphids. Blend 26 of 1:10 concentration and blends 7,8,15,20, and 21 at 1:100 concentrations repelled the most aphids. The result of the color preference of aphids indicated that the color card with RGB value of 215:255:6 (No.3) being the most attractive. Other colors were attached to No.3 color to make area ratio of 1:2 and 1:1 tcouldn’t enhance the attraction to the aphids. Plant volatiles could significantly improve the attraction of card 3 to aphids.
