Tomato crop is like potassium, the quality and yield of tomato are greatly influenced by potassium deficiency. With the declining fertility of potassium in the farmland of China, it is important to breed potassium high efficiency of tomato.4 genotypes tomato had been adopted in present research work for the change of morphology characteristics and physiological and biochemical indexes at 4 potassium concentration gradient and 4 sampling periods. According to the comparison of each index in different tomato varieties, the screening concentration, the sampling period and the screening indexes for potassium high efficient tomato varieties were confirmed and a method was founded to screen potassium high efficient tomato varieties at seedling stage 36 tomato varieties were screened in this method for potassium high efficient. The difference of yield and quality were studied the difference of tomato K-efficient genotype. The results were as follows:(1)In the four sampling period, there are significant differences of each index of tomato varieties under different K concentration, By comparing the coefficient of variation, the test to determine the 0 mg/L potassium concentration(i.e. no K) as potassium stress concentration K1 treatment and 700mg/L as the control of concentration of K0 to screening the tomato seeding genotypes with high potassium efficiency.(2)By comparing of potassium utilization indexes in each period of tomato varieties, analysis the interaction between the sampling period and the different potassium concentration. It found that third sampling among varieties in potassium utilization index difference and the maximum and the best interaction with the potassium concentration processing. Therefore, selecting third samples as the optimum sampling period.(3)Under different potassium concentration gradient, there were significant differences in morphological and physiological and biochemical indexes of tomato varieties. The correlation analysis showed that a relationship existed between potassium utilization index and root activity, stem diameter, POD activity. So there were can be used as tomato seeding potassium efficiency genotype screening index. Through path analysis, the direct contribution of root activity was the biggest which was the optimal index.(4)According to these indices, 36 tomato varieties were divided into three types by cluster analysis, 13467、13472、13393 belonged to high potassium use efficiency. 13466、13410、13459、13474 belonged to low potassium use efficiency. 13403、13429、13374、13404 belonged to intermediate potassium use efficiency.(5)The study deals with the difference of yield and quality in the difference of tomato K-efficient genotype(13466、13410、13459、13474、13403、13429、13374、13404、13467、13472、13393). The results showed that efficient tomato varieties than of K inefficient tomato varieties with high yield, fruit VC and the soluble content.
