Mink is a kind of carnivorous animals, and it is belongs to Mammalia Mustelidae Weasel.Mink is mainly bred for the fur production. Mink is one of the world’s first three major fur trade animals and it is known as the “king of fur” in the world. On the market of mink fur today, in addition to dark brown mink, there are also appeared many colorful minks in a variety of colors which is widely spread. And except the fur of the mink, mink can also make many other byproduct. Mink can be described from the inside out has a high economic value.Aleutian mink disease was recognized as one of the three major diseases in mink farming industry. It is mainly invade mink immune system, initiating the vasculitis of the arteries, glomerulonephritis and other diseases. Sick mink cring ou emaciation, anemia, weak, poor in fur quality and some other symptoms. Female minks appear barrenness, abortion and weaken fetus, male minks are poor in sperm motility and breeding capacity reduced. This disease cause seriously economic losses. The results show that there are no safe and effective treatments for Aleutian mink disease because of the special pathogenesis of the disease. So in order to control the development of Aleutian mink disease in mink and reduce the losses caused by the disease in the maximal degree, the most effective means is to develop a strict and effective disease detective system in the breeding and management process, and detect and eliminate sick mink timely. Therefore, to do good at this work, the domestic and foreign scholars have explored a variety of detection methods for Aleutian mink disease and have been widely used in the production of mink.Faeces DNA extraction method is one of the non-invasive sampling. This method avoid the interference and injury effect on the animals with which are working on during the sampling process. This method is also has the advantage of large sample volume and cost less than many toher methods. So it has a high practical significance and application value in the study of molecular biology.Mink is a kind of the valuable economic animals because of its fur, so it should be paid more attention to the protection of its economic value and minimize its impact when doing the disease testing on mink. Using the detection methods by extracting DNA from the faeces during the detect of the Aleutian mink disease, can not only avoid the impact and damage on the mink, but also determinate the infection status of Aleutian mink disease accurately. This method have high value in use. Because of these, this study work on the techniques that detect Aleutian viruses in mink by extracting viruses DNA from mink faeces, and explore the impact of Aleutian mink disease on mink litter size on the basis of this. The mainly study results are as follows:1 、 Extracted the DNA of Aleutian virus from the sick mink faeces successfully by themethod of using the Ezup column viral DNA extraction kit. The result shows that this method can be used in the work of detecting the Aleutian mink disease.2、 Extracted the DNA from the faeces samples of high litter size mink and low litter size mink and PCR amplification of the DNA products. The electrophoresis results showed that the virus carried rate of low litter size group higher than that in high litter size group. This shows that the Aleutian mink disease does effect on the litter size and reduce the litter size of mink.In summary, this study confirmed that the the method of using the Ezup column viral DNA extraction kit can extract the DNA from faeces successfully and this can be used for the study and detect of Aleutian mink disease, and Aleutian mink disease can cause the decrease of the sick mink litter size.
