In 2013-2014, this experiment study on different irrigation treatments (2250,1800, 1350,900 and 450 m/hm) effected the water metabolism of sugar beet under plastic mulching by drip irrigation, and clear water requirement regulation and water metabolism characteristics of sugar beet. In order to providing the theoretical basis and technical measures for sugar beet high quality water-saving irrigation. The results were as follows:1.In drip irrigation under mulch, the leaf area index(LAI), dry matter accumulation, net photosynthetic rate(Pn), stomatal conductivity(Cond) of sugar beet were increased by the increase of irrigation water, but the specific leaf weight (SLW) of sugar beet were reduced by increase of irrigation water, the moderate water supply treatment had high root-shoot ratio and SPAD value of sugar beet.2. In drip irrigation under mulch, the plant water content.leaf water potential (LWP), transpiration rate (Tr) of sugar beet were increased by the increase of irrigation water. The leaf water potential had a greater influence by the irrigation water in late period. The average of transpiration coefficient were 220-240.3. In drip irrigation under mulch, the water consumption of sugar beet were increased by the increase of irrigation water. The 1350 m3/hm2 has higher root yield, sugar yield and water use efficiency (WUE), when the water consumption of sugar beet were 545.15mm in whole growth periods, the root yield reached 86596 kg·hm-2,and WUE were 160.71 kg·nm-1·hm-2.4. The correlation analysis showed:the water consumption with root yield and sugar yield has positive correlation, but with sugar content and WUE has negative correlation. On the basis of sugar yield, the equation showed:in period of sugar beet root growth and period of sugar accumulation,when the soil moisture content were respectively 22.51% and 19.04%,and the water consumption were respectively 403.15mm and 507.42mm, the sugar yield had maximum value.
