Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz L.) is a tropical root crop of Euphorbiaceae with highly photosynthetic efficiency, drought-tolerant and other characters generally found in tropical crops. When cassava suffers drought, its leaves will be shedding through flexible mechanism. Cassava has just been researched on drought-tolerant and abscission on the aspect of physiology, but merely on molecular research. In this study, we choose cultivar SC5as the experimental material. In order to support the results of microarray, we measured the physiological changes of cassava during drought stress, and identified some response genes of cassava under drought condition and ethylene treatment. The main contents are as follows:1. Cultivar SC5has been treated by drought and ethylene after planting, samples have been collected at different time.2. Using the photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm) to quantify the level of cassava drought stress. At the same time, we measured the content changes of endogenous ethylene in cassava leaves and abscission zone under different drought conditions.3. Drought and ethylene treatment samples are analyzed by microarray, and a series of response genes have been found. After filtering, we got a number of key candidate genes for the following experiments.4. Cassava is a non-model organism, in this study we use multiple database to analyze the microarray data. Established a method of analyzing a high-throughput expression data of cassava. The results proved to be capable.
