Branchiostoma belchri has high scientific research value and economic value, its resourcesexhausted increasingly as the environment destroyed. Branchiostoma belchri has classified as anational protected animal, and the artificial breeding has come true, but environmental protectionis the fundamental way for Branchiostoma belchri protection. The frequent red tides, especiallythe toxic algae are one of the potential threats to Branchiostoma belchri resources nowadays. This paper studied toxic effects of Alexandrium tamarense on Branchiostoma belcheri whichduring hatch, metamorphosis, growth, development, reproduction and so on in the laboratorycondition, so it could provide the theory for protection, artificial breeding of Branchiostomabelchri. This paper shows that: The safe densities of ATDH01to Branchiostoma belchri hatched1-4weeks,2months,4months, adult, before breeding, and after breeding are1,3,14,21,102,296,478,392,377cells/mL. The hatch rates of Branchiostoma belchri reduced when ATDH01≥300cells/mL, embryos all died when ATDH01≥2000cells/mL. The metamorphosis processof the poisoned larvae delayed when ATDH01≥320cells/mL, unresponsive loss the instinct ofhiding in sand and even died. ATDH01can inhibit the normal growth of Branchiostoma belchriand the gonad of tested Branchiostoma belchri grew slowly, the body became red, behaviorbecame abnormal and some serious ones were deteriorated. The spawning of testedBranchiostoma belchri was delayed; the quantities of eggs were decreased. The ACP and ALP oftested Branchiostoma belcheri were inhibited. The sand and baits reduced the toxicity ofATDH01. What’s more, raw liquid of ATDH01>filtrate of ATDH01>Alge suspension in thesame density, and the toxic effect of raw liquid of ATDH01and filtrate were stronger as the timeprolonged while the toxic effect of the alge suspension didn’t change, and there was no toxicitydifference between male and female Branchiostoma belchri from ATDH01.
