Study On Occurrence And Key Methods Of Prevention Of Northern Com Leaf Blight In Jilin Province

Corn (Zea mays) are grown in Central America and Mexico long ago.It is themain food crops cultivated by Indians. For thousands of years, corn has been plantedall around the world by different people. It is the third food crops in the word. InChina, according to the statistics from departments of Agriculture, the number of areaplanting corn is in second place after America. The corn cultivation sites are moreconcentrated in the northeast, north and other provinces in the southwest of China.Jilin Province is in one of the world’s three golden corn belts. Its productionaccounted for a large part of the country. The safety of corn production relates to theprovince’s and the country’s food security.Although mankind grow corn in the world for a long history, the study ondiseases of corn, such as Northern corn leaf blight, Gray leaf spot, Maize Head Smut,Corn smut, etc. still starts late. Every year, the diseases can bring a lot of troubles inagriculture. In2012, because of the special climatic conditions, northern corn leafblight is widespread in Northeast China. And it happened most seriously in nearly30years.How to prevent the spread of the diseases becomes the main job of theagriculturists. Currently, the method of preventing northern corn leaf blight diseasecan be divided into the following three ways, agricultural control, chemical controland biological control. Agricultural control is that some changes in cropping patterns,as well as a scientific field management. Chemical control is that using some effective,low toxicity, broad-spectrum chemical pesticides to prevent the diseases. Biologicalcontrol is about taking use of the ability of some bacteria to prevent the diseases.In this study, author did a research about the occurrence of the northern corn leaf blight in different places in Jilin Province. We obtained the data and isolated thestrains. We aimed at clarifying the occurrence of the northern corn leaf blight in JilinProvince. And the experiments in this study showed that in chemical control,prochloraz is the best pesticides among the six pesticides tested. And the cultivationpatterns can affect the occurrence of northern corn leaf blight. This study can providescientific methods and techniques for the farmers.
