Rose is a perennial deciduous or evergreen shrubs that belongs to rosacede, and is the traditional famous flowers in China which has high practical value. Because of low cold-resistant, it is certainly difficulty to popularized to the north.In order to enlarge the greening application of rose in the north, we have to research its cold resistance. By studying the mechanism of cold resistance, we can grasps the rose physiological and biochemical change rule under low temperature stress. The present experiment studied on the frost hardiness (FH) of ornamental trees in order to provide theoretical basis for FH during the dehardering and cold hardening. Based on the five kinds of Chinese rose in baoding region grown in the natural environment. The frost hardiness assessed by electrolyte leakage(EL)method and some physiological indexes, such as peroxidase (POD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), soluble protein content, and moisture content were analyzed, and the FH difference between the five kinds of Chinese rose was compared. The FH of the five kinds of ornamental rose has contacted with the physiological parameters to explain the theoretical bases in different varieties of rose on the mechanism of cold resistance.The main results are as follows:1. As dehardening process,the FH of five rose gradually decreased.And their FH order was huangkui>hongmeigui>huangmei>xiaohongmei>hongmei. As cold hardening process,the FH of five rose gradually rised.And their FH order was hongmei>huangmei>hongmeigui>huangkui>xiaohongmei.2. The EL of the five rose was change over time.3. During dehardening process and cold hardening process,the POD and SOD showed the opposite trend.During dehardening,they increased first,then declined and finally rised again,and the opposite trend was found during cold hardening.4. During the cold hardening process, soluble protein content changed with the trend of frost hardiness.5. The moisture content was decreased during cold hardening process,and opposite trend during dehardening.
