The vegetation restoration techniques is an important part of desertification control, while the Pinus elliottii had been found as pioneer plant suitable for test area owing to the feature of drought resistances and sand-fixation ability. In this paper, use the P. elliottii plantation ecosystem in test area on Poyang lake sandy hills, to combination of field sampling and laboratory test. Research on the growth process and adaptive on the local environment for P. elliottii plantation, as well as the changing process of biomass and carbon storage. Analyzed the important role of vegetation restoration and carbon fixation of P. elliottii plantation on sandy hills of Poyang Lake. The result indicated:(1) In total, the P. elliottii plantation shows good adaptability to the local ecological environment, which is fast growing and its great vitality. That concerned with the P. elliottii are in early growth period; the result of transplanting affected by seedling time. The two year seedling age P. elliottii are adaptable than one year seedling age P. elliottii, which planting survival rate is more than 80%. The two year seedling age P. elliottii has better transplanting effect. To use for environment governance should first choose two seedling age P. elliottii plantations.(2) The unique environmental condition in sandy hills that the soil can not effectively conserve water. It is necessary to extension deep hole planting technology to increasing planting survival rate; besides, to use for environment governance should planting from low desertification area to medium and high desertification area on sandy hills of Poyang Lake.(3)After planting, the ecological function of P. elliottii plantation is gradually restored. With improvement of primary productivity of P. elliottii, the ecological system shows a healthy and stable trend. The aboveground biomass and volume of sand hill presented by slow to fast of the growth process, in light desertification area the growth was fastest, after colonization for 4 years, the aboveground biomass and volume are 55.77t/hm2 and 97.95m3/hm2, respectively. Meanwhile, the proportion of the biomass of P. elliottii trunk account for total biomass successive increase, while the branch continuously decrease, but the basic proportion of its leaf biomass remain stable. P. elliottii has significantly potential of volume as the rapid of growth, higher potential development and utilization.(4)The more ecological functions, where the more carbon storage. Which ecological system has ability of carbon accumulation. The aboveground carbon storage in different desertification area(high, medium and low desertification area) shows that are 0.56t/hm2,1.96t/hm2 and 27.13t/hm2, respectively. The vegetation layer under canopy carbon content range between 36% ~ 47%, which is slightly below the tree layer. The ground carbon storage is mainly concentrated in the surface layer(0-10cm). Besides, the canopy density is too high to limit the healthy development of vegetation layer under canopy. The planting density of P. elliottii plantation should be reasonable controlled for improve community structure.
