In the present study, we have investigated the the immunomodulation of L-theanine on immune function of broilers in immunological stress.Experiment I was carried out to determine the effects of L-theanine on immunological stress chickens.432male chickens were allotted to6treatments with6replicates: L-theanine+LPS/saline, antibiotic+LPS/saline, blank+LPS/saline. The chicken were treated with LPS at24d,25d,26d.The interaction of L-theanine with LPS on feed efficiency of5-8w and0-8w, al-AGP of24d and25d was observed across different growth period(P<0.05).Chickens treated with LPS showed significant decrease(P<0.05)in growth performance, sIgA and IL-1β, IL-6, CORT, al-AGP were significant increased(P<0.05), when compared to the saline-treated control chickens.L-theanine resulted in higher food intake, body weight gain, feed efficiency, sIgA(P<0.05). L-theanine supplementation inhibited IL-1β, IL-6, CORT, α1l-AGP in immunological stress(P<0.05), and enhance Newcastle disease antibodies production on28,32,36d(P<0.05).The results suggest that L-theanine has an modulatory effects on the innate immune response and stress immunityExperiment II was conducted to test the effect of L-theanine on E.acervulina infection.240chickens were allotted to4treatments with6replicates:50mg/kg L-theanine+E.acervulina/saline,0mg/kg L-theanine+E.acervulina/saline(3×104Sporulate E.acervulina oocysts). L-theanine resulted in higher lysozyme and lower OPG (P<0.05). The results suggest that L-theanine effects as anticoccidial additive through stimulating innate immune response of chickens.
