Millet is the traditional food crops originated in China. The ShanXi province is one of the largest province millet cultivation in China. Millet has high nutritional value, it’s rich in protein, fat and vitamins. And it’s not only used in food, but also used in medicine and winemaking. At the present stage, the soil drought and salinization problems in most areas of our country have become more and more serious that limits millet planting and production.This experiment selected 4 millet varieties from Millet Institute of Agricultural Sciences in ShanXi province as experimental material. The materials were treated with ultrasonication, ultrasonication and CaCl2, ultrasonication and KNO3 in seed germination stage respectively. The germination rate, germination potential, root length and shoot length were tested with different pretreamented millet under the condition of different salinity and different supply of water. Further more, the SOD, POD, CAT, MDA, proline and other index changes were studied under simulated drought stress and salt stress environment.The results showed that:(1) the affect of ultrasonic-treated millet seed germination and seeding growth under salt stress and drought stress found that ultrasonic-treated improved millet stimulates germination and enhanced the millet seeding drought tolerance, salt tolerance to a certain extent. The millet seeds germination promoting effect is obvious by 100W ultrasonic-treated. Physiological indicators germination potential, antioxidant enzyme activity and soluble protein content were increased.(2) 100W ultrasonic power add 10mmol/l Cacl2 is the optimum pretreatment to improve the drought tolerance and salt tolerance of millet,and promote the millet seed germination and growth in the salt stress and drought stress environment.(3) 100W ultrasonic power add 10mmol/l KNO3 is the optimum pretreatment to improve the drought tolerance and salt tolerance of millet,and promote the millet seed germination and growth in the salt stress and drought stress environment.The conclution:the millet seeding drought resistance, salt tolerance were enhanced by ultrasonic and inorganic ions combine treatment to a certain extent. The most suitable ultrasonic dosage and inorganic ions concentration are different with different varieties. This study aims to provide a simple and effective drought resistance and salt tolerance enhanced technique in millet.
