This study used the 145 profile data of soil taxonomy to investigate the distribution of soil organic carbon in Zhejiang province. Based on soil taxonomic system, first from three aspects, soil order, subclass and soil type, to study the relationship between soil organic carbon and soil depth, to obtain a suite of mathematical models about soil organic carbon distribution along with soil profile depth. Then take stagnic anthrosols as example, using the models of soil organic carbon profile distribution, along with the improved soil type method to calculate the density of soil organic carbon, and finally, compare the results with those of other scholars work.The study show that the quantity of organic carbon in most soil types is negatively correlated with the soil depth. In the level of soil class and subclass, the relationship of the quantity of soil organic carbon and the soil depth can be well described by power function. In artificial soil, for example, the relationships between soil organic carbon and soil depth is y=63.665t-0.61, R2=0.4244(n=254); In alfisols, with y=51.028t-0.637 and R2=0.528 6(n=80); In cambosols, with y=35.093t-0.49 and R2=0.3455(n=176). In the level of soil type, the negative correlation of soil depth and soil organic carbon quantity is more obvious, the best-fit curve equations include power function, exponential function and logarithmic function and quadratic function, the fitting precision is high.In order to verify the practicability and feasibility of models for organic carbon profile distribution in this paper, take stagnic anthrosols as an example, this type of soil is large and representative in Zhejiang province. According to the distribution of soil organic carbon profile model dt to estimate the soil organic carbon density, the result show that soil organic carbon density is from 69.04 t·hm-2 to 101.90 t·hm-2, with the average of 85.47 t·hm-2, closing to the result calculated by soil type method, and the results of other researchers, the method is therefore feasible.Using soil organic carbon profile models and improved method of soil types to estimate soil organic carbon density can achieve good results, which can quickly calculate various types of soil organic carbon storage, this method can be regarded as a kind of new method for estimating soil organic carbon storage.
