Phytophthora capsici belonging to Oomycota, a far cry from fungi in evolution, and algae both belong to Velvet whip biosphere. Although as other fungi grows showing filamentous, it has significant difference with other fungi in pathogenesis. Phytophthora can secrete large amounts of effector to interfere the defense response of plants to promote pathogen infection and colonization. According to the type of its location in the host plant, the effector is divided into extracellular and intracellular effectors which also contains RxLR and CRN (Crinkler). RxLR has a conserved domain present in the Oomycetes Avr proteins. RxLR effectors can be divided into three parts on the protein structure:the signal peptide, N-terminal RxLR-dEER translocation domainand C-terminal functional domain. Therefore the class protein containing RxLR-dEER are presumed to have ability to enter the plant cells, and may contribute to the toxicity of the pathogen to the host. Although the AVR protein has been known to cause plants allergic cell death which contains the corresponding resistance proteins, but we do not know the role of these proteins containing RxLR domain on susceptible plants.In this study, PVX viral expression vector was used to study for the function of Phytophthora capsici RxLR of effector molecules. We constructed 15 recombinant vectors of RxLR family effector molecules, and test its activity on inducing cell death in the model plant Nicotiana benthamiana.. The results showed that effector gene RxLR242 can cause cell death in tobacco. In addition our study also recombied vector pGBKT7 with the same effector genes, then transformed into yeast to filter which RxLR effector molecules can interact with EDS1 resistance-related in Arabidopsis. The results showed that RxLR103 interacts with EDS1 directly, but other genes had no obvious phenotype.
