The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of attapulgite on rumen fermentation and lactation performance of mid-lactation cows, providing reference for attapulgite being used on dairy cow.The present sdudy was conducted to investigate the effect of attapulgite on rumen fermentation in vitro.The test is divided into three treatments.6 mg attapulgite and 6 mg heated attapulgite were added in 45mL rumen fluid, with 200mg mixture common diet in rumen fluid.Gas production(GP) was recorded respectively at 2h,4h,6h,8h,10h,12h, 14h,16h,18h,20h,22h,24h incubation in vitro.The incubation was stopped at6h,12h,24h and then the inoculants were determined for rumen fermentation parameters.The result showed that the GP in treatments was higher than control all the time(P>0.05). All VFAs increased obviously as rumen fermentation continue. Both attapulgite can increase the content of acetate acids, VFAs, A/P at 24h. And the modified attapulgite is more effective (P <0.05). Both attapulgite can decrease the content of isovalerate acids at 6h, and have little linfluence to it at 12h and 24h. The pH of ruminal fluid was stable. The modified attapulgite can decrease lactic acid at 24h(P>0.05),while attapulgite can increase content of MCP(P>0.05) and ammonia-N(P<0.01) at 24h. Attapulgite can increase content of magnesium ion at 6h and 12h(P>0.05), and the modified attapulgite can increase content of magnesium ion at 24h(P>0.05).24 dairy cows were divided into four groups according to the same of age, parity, number of lactations and milk yeld. Eaeh group hastencows, and live in the same conditions.Dairy cows were fed a common TMR.No attapulgite and no mildew inhibitor was included in diet of control Ⅰ. No attapulgite and was included in diet of control Ⅱ. Treatment Ⅰ and Ⅱ were respectively added to 0.8% and 1.6% attapulgite with prefeeding 7 days and 42 days of being fed.The results of experiment two showed that adding 0.8% and 1.6% attapulgite can decrease the milk urea nitrogen (P<0.01)and the content of AFM1 (P>0.05).Adding 0.8% attapulgite is more effective.The attapulgite show the same consequent with mildew inhibitor,except forth day when attapulgite is more effective.The results of experiment three showed that add 0.8% and 1.6% attapulgite cows can increase the content of serum total protein(P>0.05), decrease the content of AST and GPT (P>0.05), Both can protect liver from detriment.Adding 0.8% attapulgite can decrease serum potassium concentration (P>0.05). Adding 1.6% attapulgite can increase serum potassium concentration (P>0.05).Both can improve the ability of anti-oxidant. Adding 0.8% attapulgite can improve the content of IgA (P>0.05),IgG (P>0.05), INF-γ(P>0.05), TNF-a (P>0.05),TL-2(P<0.05).It indicate that attapulgite can promote immune function on cows.
