In this study,145 varieties of wheat were chosen as the experimental materials. The physicochemical indexes including contents of chlorophyll and vitamin C in wheatgrass juice; the agronomic traits of wheat plant such as tiller number, plant height, thousand seed weight, panicle length, grain number per spike, seed color, panicle type; physicochemical indexes of wheat seed including protein content and starch content, correlation analysis on these indexes and traits were conducted. It was found wheat cultivars that most from Huang-Huai area, some areas of Southwest as well as middle and downstream region of the Yellow River and foreign country were with high contents of chlorophyll and vitamin C indicating the fitness to produce the wheatgrass juice, chlorophyll content in the range of 3.89-4.28 mg/100g and vitamin C content in the range of 0.57-0.64 mg/100g. Moreover, positive correlations between chlorophyll content and vitamin C content was found with R2=0.83. For the wheat plant and seed, the above cultivars as the resource of wheatgrass juice were characterized by the following average values:tiller number in the range of 4-9, with an average of 6; height number in the range of 64.5-89.1 cm, with an average of 77.6 cm; spike length in the range of 7.5-12.9 cm, with an average of 9.2 cm; grain number in the range of 25-63 pieces, with an average of 38 pieces; grain weight in the range of 38.7-46.7 g, with an average of 39.7 g; protein content in the range of 11.6-14.7 g/100g, with an average of 13.2 g/100g; starch content in the range of 56.2-61.8 g/100g, with an average of 58.6 g/100g. The result suggested that Huang-Huai area, some areas of Southwest as well as middle and downstream region of the Yellow River were fitted to plant the wheat cultivars for producing the wheatgrass juice.
