Cotton is one of the most important economic crops in China, seedling is related to the primary key of cotton and seed production, the quality of seed is appraised by seed vigor. This research is divided into two parts, the first part aims at the method of seed vigor determination and genotype differences, the second part studies the ecological environmental impact in cotton seed vigor during the formation of seed. The main results were as follows:1. Genotype difference of cotton seed vigorWith four kinds of seed vigor measurement, I studied 17 introduced cultivation variety of cotton seed vigor, explored the genotype differences of cotton seed vigor and the change of cotton seed vigor under different measurement. The results show that:(1)with different measurement, the result of seed vigor is not completely consistent, cannot fully reflect all field emergence rate situation. Compared to the optimal conditions, seed vigor were decreased under standard germination test, low temperature germination, artificial aging germination and salt stress germination test, and there is a big difference between varieties. Adverse situation inhibit the expression of seed vigor, under the same condition the degree of inhibition mainly influenced by genotype differences, the degree of inhiibition is different in different conditions:the condition of low temperature mainly inhibit the emergence rate of seeds and seedlings growth potential, aging conditions mainly inhibit the seed germination rate, the Inhibition of 0.3% NaCl solution is most obvious, every sowing quality of seeds under salt stress are influenced obviously. Comparing different genotype of seeds, hybrid seeds express more seed vigor than conventional seeds in optimal conditions and low temperature conditions. Seeds which express high vigor in Standard indoor germination test is not always good under adversity, and which express low vigor are usually bad.(2) the appearance quality of the seed can be used to indicate the seed vigor, for a standard germination, germination and artificial aging germination test at low temperature, the seed germination rate related closely to the rate of health seeds, density, fresh weight of seedling is associated with seed size, kernel size and the full extent.2. The influence of climate conditions on the cotton seed vigorAccording to the seed vigor, appearance quality and nutrient content recorded from six cotton varieties cotton provided from six ecological point of Yangtze river basin connecting the climate data of different locations for analysis, found the indexes are differences between locations and varieties, climate conditions impact a part of seed quality. Performance for.(1)The causes of the differences of different indexes are different, among them the priority of environmental effect indexes are germinating percentage, fresh weight of seeding, germinative index, the rate of health seeds, crude fat content, sucrose content, starch content and amino acids content. Priority of genetic effect indexes are seed index and kernel rate. Priority of environmental effect and the interaction effect index is germination potential. Priority of genetic effect and environmental effect index is vigor index. Priority of genetic effect and the interaction effect index is soluble sugar content. (2)Cotton seed vigor in different locations is different, latitude impact germinating percentage, fresh weight of seeding, germinative index, vigor index, climate conditions impact germination potential and germinating percentage.(3)Cotton seed vigor relate to nutrient content of seeds, nutrient content of seeds impact seed’s physical traits, seed size and the full extent relate to nutrient content of seeds, so that there is some connection between physical traits and seed vigor.(4)The climate conditions during the process of seed development and formation impact the quality of seed. Sunshine duration and relative humidity can inhibit the cumulation of kernel crude fat content, heat quantity can promote the cumulation of sucrose content, long time of sunshine can promote the cumulation of amino acids content. High air humidity during the process of seed development is propitious to seed filling, high temperature is adverse to format health seeds, however sunshine can promote it.
